Recently @cdgcontentagency posted about this and it triggered this memory of a girl getting torn down by other designers in a Facebook Group because she was using Canva and promoting her graphic design services.
đ€ Are you kidding me?! We play @canva like itâs not a fire program still? Crazy.đ„
I stepped into the conversation and encouraged her to ignore them and keep pushing while also correcting a couple of designers who wanted to âcorrectâ my encouragement. Chile. đ She later messaged me and thanked me for standing up for her. I donât have to know you to cheer you on. â€âđ„
As a designer who is educated in âdesigner softwareâ, Iâve seen many of those same designers create low quality graphics while using that âdesigner softwareâ and charging an arm and a leg for them. How could this be? đ€š Because Adobe is not a magic wand. đȘ You donât just open it and instantly have creativity or taste.
đ An individual who designs graphics using their own creativity and passion is known as a graphic designer. Itâs that simple. đ
If you can do that, you are a designer. Anyone who tells you differently is a hater and by definition, if you have haters, you are doing something right. So keep pushing and give them some more to hate on.
âŒïž If youâre a designer who likes to tear others down because they may not use the same software as you, exit stage left, as negativity is never tolerated in the design community, especially during mental health awareness month.
đ„ My name is Ella and I use all software. đ€ (Mic Drop)
